Causes Tinnitus

There are certain conditions that are most likely to have caused the ringing in your ears. These are:

  • Noise-induced cochlear damage. This is without doubt one of the major causes tinnitus.

When you repeatedly expose your ears to loud noise, chances are the tiny hairs in your cochlea get bent or broken. If this happens, these tiny hairs would randomly transmit electrical impulses to the brain even though they have not detected any sound waves. The brain then interprets these impulses as sound that usually comes as a ringing noise.

  • Stress. There are treatments that help you manage stress, including counseling, hypnotherapy, meditation, and relaxation therapy.

  • Sinus and allergies are causes tinnitus. Drugs such as antibiotics and antihistamines cause the mucous in the middle ear to thicken, which becomes hard to drain out.
